Alexi Giannoulias (D)
A dedicated public servant, Alexi Giannoulias was elected Illinois State Treasurer at age 30 – the youngest in the nation – and in 2022 became Secretary of State, succeeding his friend and inspiration, Jesse White. As an independent Democrat, Alexi has led with a reform-driven agenda focused on ethical governance, job creation, and financial fairness.
He ended pay-to-play politics, helped save over 1,000 jobs at Hartmarx, protected students from predatory lending, and shielded homeowners from foreclosure. His responsible investment strategies helped Illinois weather the 2008 crisis, and he has championed scholarship access, consumer protection, and green initiatives.
Inspired by President Obama, Alexi is committed to expanding opportunity for all – not just the privileged few – and is backed by a broad coalition of labor, elected leaders, and advocates.
