WASHINGTON – This week, Bob Hagglund filed to run once again for Secretary of State in Washington State. A former Republican County and Legislative District Chair, who has boosted the campaigns of prominent election deniers like Robert Sutherland, Hagglund is the most prominent Republican to join the race to date. DASS spokesperson Drew Godinich released the following statement:
“Bob Hagglund would be a disaster for voting rights in Washington if elected. He has said that his first priority if elected would be implementing voter ID laws – despite research showing that they strongly discriminate against communities of color. He has even cast doubt on the 2020 election results, throwing his hat in with the most dangerous, radical elements of the Republican Party.
“Secretary Steve Hobbs is a veteran and trailblazer who has already secured historic wins to protect Washington’s elections from the very threats that Hagglund espouses. He is the easy choice for Washingtonians this November.”
