WASHINGTON – In response to the entry of far-right conspiracy theorist Alexander Kolodin into the 2026 Arizona Secretary of State race, Democratic Association of Secretaries of State interim Executive Director Drew Godinich issued the following statement:
“In case you thought the crop of crazies running for Secretary of State in 2022 were an aberration, here comes Alex Kolodin in Arizona. Like Mark Finchem, who underperformed the rest of the Republican ticket to lose three years ago, Kolodin is peddling the same debunked conspiracy theories, election denialism, and blatant lies. Voters rejected Finchem’s attacks on democracy – and they’ll do the same for Kolodin.
“Secretary Adrian Fontes is everything Kolodin is not: a proven leader committed to free, fair, and secure elections. While Kolodin pushes baseless lies to undermine democracy, Secretary Fontes is working to protect it – ensuring every Arizonan’s vote is counted and every voice is heard. Fontes – and our democracy – will prevail in 2026 – because voters won’t fall for the same extremist playbook twice. Arizonans deserve leaders who uphold the will of the people, not conspiracy theorists desperate for power.”
