WASHINGTON, DC – The Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS) released the following statement after media reports that Donald Trump’s FBI director has authorized “surging resources into what it calls a ‘priority’ investigation” regarding the 2020 election in Georgia. According to the NY Times, the FBI has some 260 analysts assigned to the investigation.
“Tim Fleming should immediately denounce this smear campaign of Georgia’s hardworking election workers, who are thousands of everyday Georgians serving their communities,” said Chelsey Wininger, Executive Director of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State. “Tim Fleming met with Donald Trump in the White House to plot out his campaign for Secretary of State, and has echoed Donald Trump by saying that there were ‘irregularities’ in the 2020 election. Georgia voters deserve to know whether he will stand up for Georgia or whether he’s running to help Donald Trump.”
