Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold issued the below statement on behalf of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS) in response to the Senate’s vote today on S1, the For the People Act:
Although we are disappointed and disheartened that the Senate did not vote today in favor of taking up the For the People Act, we are encouraged to see that 50 Senators voted in favor, showing that we do in fact have momentum behind the fight for voting reform. Today’s floor vote was merely a bump in the road in the fight for voting rights and democracy. Democratic Secretaries of State stand united in urging the Senate to step up and protect the right to vote for every American.
