Statement from Colorado Secretary of State and DASS Chair Jena Griswold on President Biden’s Voting Rights Speech

Jul 14, 2021

Following President Biden’s voting rights speech yesterday, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, Chair of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS) released the following statement:

“Election officials across the country fought through waves of voter suppression in 2020 and a pandemic to oversee the highest turn out and most secure election in American history. But the threats to our democracy aren’t over.

As President Biden said, we must urgently pass critical reforms at the federal level to protect voting rights and shore up democracy. There is no time for Congress to waste and we must not let continued obstruction and old Senate rules like the filibuster stand in the way of ensuring that all eligible Americans are able to make their voices heard, no matter their zip code, color of skin, or political party affiliation.”
