WASHINGTON – Today, Value the Vote, a new 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, affiliated with the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS), launched with a $10 million plan to protect election workers and administrators in key states in 2024.

Value the Vote will make crucial investments in voter registration among communities that have been left out of the democratic process, including rural voters, and Black and Latino communities. The organization also plans to make investments in voter education as state legislatures and other bad actors enact registration and voting rules and regulations designed to disenfranchise communities of color and young people.

This program will also work to protect election workers and administrators through investments in legal support and security. Over the past three years, election workers and officials have faced an onslaught of threats and harassment, leading to extraordinary turnover in these critical roles for the functioning of our democracy.

Initially, Value the Vote’s work will focus on five states: Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, and Wisconsin.

You can read more about the group’s mission in the New York Times.

Travis Brimm, President of Value the Vote, issued the following statement:

“Our democracy is in crisis – and we aren’t going to just standby during this critical time in our nation’s history. That’s why we’re planning historic investments in rural, Black and Latino communities in states that will have a key impact on the 2024 elections, and countless others. From safeguarding the officials and administrators who are critical to ensuring our elections run smoothly, to registering voters in communities who have been left behind, we’re going to do everything we can to ensure that the 2024 elections are safe and secure.”
